To Know Christ and To Make Him Known

The General Conference Methodist Women (GCMW) marked a significant milestone with the
successful organisation of its first-ever GCMW-Haggai National Seminar, held from 28 to 31 May
2026 at the Methodist Women Centre, Ulu Klang.
Seventeen participants from across Malaysia gathered for four days of intensive learning,
fellowship, reflection, and spiritual growth. The seminar brought together an inspiring
intergenerational group ranging in age from 28 to 71 years old. Despite their differences in age,
denomination, profession, ministry involvement, and life experiences, the participants bonded
remarkably well and worked together as one community of learners and leaders.
Participants travelled from various parts of Malaysia, with one courageous participant making
the journey all the way from Miri, Sarawak. Their willingness to invest four days in this training
reflected a shared desire to grow as faithful disciples and leaders for Christ.
The seminar featured seven facilitators who guided participants through a wide range of topics,
including the Biblical Mandate, the Discipline of a Leader, Next-Generation Leadership,
Effective Communication, Stewardship, Goal Setting, and Kingdom Leadership. Through
presentations, discussions, group work, and lively debates, participants were encouraged to
examine their assumptions, deepen their understanding of the Great Commission, and discover
practical ways to fulfil God’s calling in their own spheres of influence.
The learning environment was rich and dynamic. Leaders in their own right, participants brought
diverse perspectives and experiences that enriched every discussion. They challenged one
another, learned from one another, and together explored what it means to be faithful stewards
of the Gospel in today’s world.
Many arrived with few expectations, but they left with renewed vision and a common mission: to
advance God’s Kingdom and make Christ known.
Beyond knowledge, participants were equipped with practical tools to communicate the Gospel
effectively within their families, workplaces, churches, ministries, and communities. They were
reminded that every generation of Christians bears a responsibility to reach the generations of
souls living on earth today.
The seminar concluded with an inspiring valedictory address that captured both the challenge
and the potential before them:
“Imagine churches strengthened”.
“Imagine communities transformed.”
“Imagine emerging leaders mentored.”
“Imagine organisations led with integrity.”
“Imagine resources stewarded for eternal impact.”
Imagine people who have never heard the Gospel finally receiving the opportunity to hear the
Good News of Jesus Christ.
The Organising Chairman in her speech reminded participants that they are no longer
spectators in their churches and communities but are called to be effective witnesses—
combining professional excellence with spiritual character. Stewardship, they were reminded,
extends beyond finances to encompass time, influence, gifts, opportunities, and obedience to
God. They were challenged to move beyond being self-focused caretakers of comfort and
instead become faithful stewards of the Gospel.
As the participants returned home, they carried with them a renewed commitment to live out
the Biblical mandate with conviction, practise discipline with consistency, communicate truth
with wisdom, steward God’s resources faithfully, invest intentionally in the next generation, lead
with humility, and pursue goals that advance God’s Kingdom.
The success of this inaugural seminar was made possible through the dedication and
commitment of the seven facilitators who generously shared their knowledge, experience, and
passion for Kingdom work. Their faithful investment in the participants created a learning
environment that was both challenging and encouraging.
The General Conference Methodist Women also expresses its sincere appreciation to the
organising committee of Subang Jaya Alumni Association, volunteers, and support team whose
tireless efforts behind the scenes ensured the smooth running of the seminar. From planning
and logistics to hospitality and participant care, every contribution played an important part in
making this event a meaningful and memorable experience.
Special appreciation is extended to Mama Ps Jacinta for her loving and nurturing presence
throughout the seminar. With a mother’s heart, she cared for the participants’ emotional,
physical, and spiritual well-being, creating an environment where everyone felt welcomed,
supported, and encouraged during the four days together.
May these graduates become leaders who do not merely talk about transformation but actively
participate in it; leaders who do not simply accumulate knowledge but multiply impact; and
leaders who, by God’s grace, bring hope where there is despair, truth where there is confusion,
and the Gospel from Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
