11 March 2023. It was a beautiful morning. 21 committee members of CACMW made a visit to the Methodist Women Centre(MWC) at Ulu Klang. The committee members comprise of the President (Mdm Esther Poh), 2 Counsellors (Mdm Diong Siew Ling and Mdm Jennifer Yap), Exco members, Nominations Chairlady (Mdm Choong Meng Foong), the Co-ordinators of Spiritual Life, Christian Education, Social Concerns, Mission and Evangelism; 10 districts’ MW presidents and the CAC Bishop (Rev Liew Kek Ming).
Many of us had arrived at Wisma Methodist the day before to attend the 2nd Committee Meeting of 2023 of the CACMW and stayed the night there. For most of us, it was our first visit to the MWC which was newly renovated. It was a precious moment for us to witness what has been done by the grace of our merciful God. Thus, with grateful hearts, we carpooled and departed at around 7.30am from Wisma Methodist. The journey there took about 25-30 minutes.
The Blessing Prayer Service For the Renovation of MWC was conducted by Bishop Dr Ong Hwai Teik on 2nd October 2018. CACMW is privileged to have a part in this meaningful project of maintaining and upgrading the centre which was dedicated to THE GLORY OF GOD on 15th July, 2022 by Bishop Dr T.Jayakumar and Dato Ir. Alice Jawan Empaling of GCMW.
We are thankful to the President of GCMW, Ms Evelyn Sim, for allowing us to visit the centre and using the cosy conference room for Part 2 of our CACMW meeting. We are also grateful to Counsellor Mdm Diong Siew Ling, who is also the Counsellor of GCMW, for her tireless effort in giving us an orientation of the centre after our breakfast at the common hall on the first floor.
There are ample parking lots within the compound of the centre which has a 2- storey and a 3-storey building with needed amenities. There is a multipurpose hall and a care-taker room on the ground floor. The hostel has 18 air-conditioned rooms with twin beds and bathrooms with hot water showers, a VIP room and a pantry. The conference room is on the first floor where there is also a pantry with kitchen facilities and a refrigerator.
We would like to take this opportunity to convey our gratitude to the sisters who took the effort to prepare breakfast for us at MWC – the red bean soup, buns, biscuits. To our pleasant surprise, Mdm Diong had also prepared a Sibu local delight, the “Sibu hamburger”( see picture attached) as part of our sumptuous breakfast! God is so good to us!
Praise God that we had a blessed meeting and a wonderful fellowship during our visit to MWC. May God continue to bless the ministry of MWC in reaching out to women in need and as a place for a good retreat for other brothers and sisters in Christ. To God be the glory. Great things He has done!
